Classical Music Department (CMD) provides classical music education for children and young people aged 9 to 17. Students can study in the following sections:

Regardless of the chosen section, the program consists of six levels, or grades. Each level lasts one school year and consists of three semesters. Students attend classes in their main subject – an instrument or solo singing – as well as solfeggio and music theory, in accordance with a clearly defined curriculum.
CMD is designed for families seeking a thorough and rigorous classical music education within an environment where every child is approached personally, attentively and in accordance with their individual abilities. Individual tuition in the principal subject and close cooperation among teachers, students and parents allow each student’s progress to be carefully monitored and guided—without compromising the clear structure of the programme or its high artistic standards.
The results of this approach are confirmed year after year. Every year, CMD students win dozens of first prizes and laureate titles at national and international music school competitions. Yet awards are not the only measure of success: confidence on stage, independence in their work, disciplined musical habits and the relationship with art that each student develops throughout their education are equally important.
Lessons are scheduled at times that can be coordinated with students’ school and other commitments, allowing consistent and serious study to fit naturally into everyday family life. Throughout the year, students have numerous opportunities to perform—from smaller school concerts to large-scale productions—while masterclasses, seminars and work with distinguished artists and educators provide additional opportunities for development and refinement.
CMD thus combines the rigour of classical music education with a warmer, more flexible and encouraging approach, in which much is expected of students while they are given the full support needed to achieve it. For families who, in addition to the school’s international certificate, value an official state certificate confirming completion of a grade, that option is also available and is explained in greater detail below.

All classes within the CMD last 45 minutes. By agreement with the teachers, instruction is available in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian or English.
Classes in the main subject – an instrument or solo singing – are taught individually. Students may choose to attend one or two lessons per week, while the schedule is arranged in consultation with the main-subject teacher. Solfeggio and music theory classes are taught in groups and take place in the afternoon.
The School owns instruments that may be provided to beginner students for use during their first semester. After completing the first semester, students are required to obtain their own instrument in order to continue attending classes and practising regularly.
Children younger than nine attend preparatory classes as part of the PPD program PRELUDINO - My First Instrument. The program is designed to introduce children gradually to music, develop their musical ear, sense of rhythm and fundamental musical abilities, and prepare them for later enrolment in one of the CMD departments.
Each level, or grade, lasts one school year divided into three semesters. At the end of each semester, students take examinations in the subjects they attend and receive a certificate confirming completion of the semester. Grades are awarded according to the following scale, from lowest to highest:

Upon completing a level, or grade, the grades earned in the first, second and third semesters are added together, and the final grade in each subject is determined on the basis of the overall result: first-semester grade + second-semester grade + third-semester grade = final subject grade for that level.
The student’s overall achievement is determined on the basis of the final grades in all subjects – the main subject, solfeggio and music theory. The final grades in individual subjects and the student’s overall achievement are entered into an international certificate, issued in English, confirming completion of the level.
After successfully completing all six levels, or grades, the student is awarded an international diploma in English.
Students and parents who, in addition to the School’s international documents, wish to obtain a national certificate confirming completion of a grade or a diploma confirming completion of primary music education in Bosnia and Herzegovina must notify the School at least two months before completing the relevant level, or grade.
To obtain a national certificate, students must pass an additional state examination in all subjects before an expert committee at the end of each level/grade. The examination and issuance of the relevant documents are subject to an additional fee of BAM 140 per level, or grade. This amount is paid once for each level/grade taken by the student.
Students who complete all six levels of the CMD may enrol in a secondary music school in Republika Srpska or the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the same department they attended at our School, provided that they pass the secondary music school entrance examination. The entrance examination is a legal requirement and applies to all students who have completed six years of primary music education at public or private music schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
