BASICSchool was founded in East Sarajevo in 2013 by Bosnian-Herzegovinian composer and music producer Đorđe Jovančić, based on the belief that children deserve an arts education that is rigorous, contemporary and connected to the real world of the arts.

 

The school was not established to replicate an existing model of music education, but to develop its own — a model that preserves the knowledge, discipline and foundations of classical music education while expanding them through creative freedom, contemporary technologies and experience in professional production.

 

For more than a decade, we have built a distinctive tradition of concerts, musicals, television programmes, films, original projects and studio recordings. In these productions, students are not simply performers appearing at the end of a programme, but active participants throughout the creative process. At BASICSchool, the classroom extends to the stage, the studio and in front of the camera — places where knowledge becomes experience, talent becomes confidence, and an idea becomes a work presented to a real audience.

 

In the traditional model of education, grades and examinations often represent the final outcome. At BASICSchool, they are only part of the journey. For us, what a student knows is just as important as how they apply that knowledge, what they can create independently and who they become while working with others.

 

That is why parents do not have to choose between rigorous music education and a contemporary creative environment. BASICSchool offers both.
