Experimental Arts Education Unit
Experimental Arts Education Unit (EAEU) offers a contemporary model of arts education for children and young people aged 7 to 17. The program combines music, performing arts, technology and creative exploration. Within EAEU, there are no strictly separated departments or predetermined study tracks. Instead, students choose courses from different fields and build their own learning path according to their interests and talents. Each course is held twice a week.
What does experimental music and performing arts education involve?
The word experimental does not mean that education lacks structure. It means that students acquire knowledge through contemporary methods, hands-on experience, exploration and work on practical projects. Students connect music, performing arts, technology and other fields, while teachers guide them as mentors and collaborators. Instead of traditional exams, progress is assessed throughout the entire working process, including experimentation, learning from mistakes, discussion, self-assessment, teamwork and public presentations of projects. Courses and challenges change from one semester to the next, keeping the program dynamic, contemporary and open to new ideas.
Classes are taught bilingually in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian and English, with particular emphasis on the active use of English. This approach allows students to gradually develop confidence in communication and the ability to present their ideas clearly in an international environment. Groups are limited to ten students, allowing for individualized attention, careful mentoring and support for every student.
The school year runs from September to June and is divided into three semesters: fall, winter and spring. During each semester, students work independently or in teams on assignments that lead to a final project. Depending on the course, the results are presented to parents or the wider public through presentations, seminars, concerts, performances, exhibitions, films or television programs. In this way, the knowledge students acquire does not remain in the classroom but takes a concrete form and finds its audience.

Upon initial enrollment in EAEU, each student chooses at least one and no more than five of the courses offered for that semester. At the end of the semester, students are automatically enrolled in related courses within the same field for the following semester, so no new application is required. If they wish to change fields or choose a different combination of courses, they only need to submit a new course selection form before the next semester begins. This allows progression to continue automatically while giving every student the freedom to change their learning path before each new semester.
At the end of each successfully completed semester, students receive a semester completion certificate containing descriptive assessments for all courses taken. To receive the certificate, students must attend at least 60% of the classes held during that semester.
Students who attend EAEU for at least two years and successfully complete at least 12 courses receive an international diploma issued in English, together with a transcript listing all completed courses and the corresponding descriptive assessments.
EAEU course syllabi are designed to develop far more than individual artistic skills. Through carefully structured assignments and projects, students learn to understand complex topics, connect ideas, collaborate, solve problems and make thoughtful and ethical decisions. In doing so, they develop artistic, logical and social intelligence, as well as the independence needed to turn their ideas into reality.
Classes take place in specially equipped spaces designed for creation, exploration and collaboration. Contemporary technology and carefully selected materials allow students to immediately test their ideas in practice and develop them from the first draft to a finished project. A smaller part of the instruction is delivered online when required by the course content.
In courses such as composition, animation, editing, digital production and photography, students use specialized software, including tools with integrated artificial intelligence. In fields such as ballet, acting and stage movement, digital tools are adapted to the specific artistic work. At EAEU, technology is not an end in itself, but a means of expanding students’ expressive possibilities, developing their digital skills and helping them transform ideas into contemporary works of art.
EAEU is more than a collection of courses. It is a creative hub where art, science and technology meet, giving students the space to explore, create and discover their own artistic voice. Here, they acquire knowledge and skills, build confidence and learn to turn an idea into something that can be seen, heard and remembered.
