On 11 June 2026, the main stage of the National Theatre of East Sarajevo hosted BASICSchool’s annual end-of-year student concert for the 2025/2026 school year. Choir, music workshop, ballet, instrumental performances, solo singing, and musical theatre came together in a programme showcasing the range of artistic interests and educational opportunities at our school.

The school choir opened the concert with a medley of songs from Đorđe Jovančić’s children’s album “Žabac vanzemaljac”, followed by “La Bamba”. From the very start, the evening brought together homegrown children’s music and the familiar rhythms of popular music.

Our youngest students also had their moment on the main stage. The younger and older music workshop groups performed “Združena slova” and “Mic, mac, mjau”, while the ballet groups presented the choreographies “Male ptičice” and “Spring Fairies”. Their performances offered a glimpse into an approach to learning that explores music through song, play, and movement.

The instrumental programme brought together piano, guitar, violin, and cello, with a repertoire spanning short miniatures, dance pieces, études, and toccatas. The works performed included Dvořák’s “Humoresque”, Burgmüller’s étude “The Storm”, and Matz’s “The Hornet”. The different instruments and musical character of the pieces gave each performance its own distinctive expression.

The solo singers presented a programme combining original songs from our region, film and musical theatre repertoire, and contemporary pop. From Đorđe Jovančić’s “Tamo gdje se nebo s vodom spaja”, through “Into the Unknown” and “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!”, to “Thriller”, the vocal performances brought together a variety of musical styles and approaches to stage performance.

The concert concluded with the musical “We’re All in This Together”. Performing “Stick to the Status Quo” and “We’re All in This Together”, the students once again combined singing, acting, and dance. The musical’s message of togetherness brought the evening dedicated to our school community’s work and creativity to a fitting close.

The end-of-year concert gave students an opportunity to share what they had been working on and offered a collective view of the work across the school’s different departments and specialisms. Students of different ages and skill levels shared the stage, with space for every instrument, voice, and artistic interest.

The students were guided in their preparations by teachers Marina Milošev, Marija Ivančević Stipić, Ekaterina Vereshchagina, Nina Vasić, Azur Kasapović, Marija Mastilo, Staša Dukić, Eva Čalija, and Đorđe Jovančić. Piano accompaniment for the violin and cello students was provided by Prof. Marija Mastilo.

We thank all our students, parents, teachers, partners, sponsors, and donors for their support and collaboration throughout the 2025/2026 school year. Thank you for being part of the BASICSchool community and for working with us to create opportunities for children and young people to learn, perform, and develop their talents.
