A musical about bold teenage dreams: "Svi smo u ovome zajedno"

Eighteen young performers, one theatre stage, and a story about the courage to be ourselves. BASICSchool students presented the teen musical “Svi smo u ovome zajedno”.

On 2 June 2026, BASICSchool students presented the teen musical “Svi smo u ovome zajedno” in a public preview performance to a full house at the National Theatre of East Sarajevo.

Produced by BASICSchool – School of Music and Performing Arts, the musical brought together students from the EAEU department in a performance combining acting, singing, and dance to tell a story of growing up, friendship, and the need for acceptance. Inspired by themes from High School Musical, the production presented a contemporary teenage story blending school rivalries, the pressure of expectations, humour, and the discovery of new possibilities.

Through Troy and Gabriella’s encounter and the relationships within their school community, the musical explores how much labels shape our choices — and what happens when we dare to grow beyond them. At its heart is the message that different interests can complement one another, that confidence grows with support, and that everyone deserves the space to show who they are.

For our students, this project was an opportunity to bring together what they had learned in lessons and rehearsals in a complete stage production. Musical theatre requires simultaneous attention to the voice, movement, acting, and fellow performers. This work calls for discipline, mutual trust, and responsibility towards the ensemble: each individual contribution becomes part of a shared achievement.

These are the experiences we strive to provide at BASICSchool — opportunities for students to develop their artistic skills through the creative process and put them into practice before an audience. Our collaboration with the National Theatre of East Sarajevo brought this production to a professional stage and connected it with an audience beyond the school community.

The cast featured Tara Ristić, Annur Radeljaš, Majra Maljević, David Jurčević, Zola Ristić, Igor Radivojević, Hana Čelebić, Lana Bubica, Elena Stipić, Naida Dinarević, Laura Nikol Vidaković, Ajša Redžić, Uma Planja, Nadža Džambegović, Sara Kopčić, Sofia Lakić, Tara Đukić, and Hana Hrlović.

The musical’s script was written by Đorđe Jovančić, with direction by Staša Dukić and Đorđe Jovančić, musical direction by Mina Petrović and Đorđe Jovančić, and choreography by Ekaterina Vereshchagina. Ana Jovančić created the visual identity, while Marko Jovančić designed the video and stage effects.

Music: Matthew Gerrard, Robbie Nevil, Ray Cham, Greg Cham, Drew Seeley, Andy Dodd, Adam Watts, David Lawrence, Faye Greenberg, Jamie Houston, Randy Petersen, and Kevin Quinn.

Thank you to our students for their hard work, to their parents for their support, to the creative and production team for their dedication, to the National Theatre of East Sarajevo for their collaboration, and to the audience who joined us. “Svi smo u ovome zajedno” remains a message we hope our students will carry with them long after they leave the stage.
