BASICSchool proudly shares the news of the great success of our student Esma Gušić, who performed at the 32nd International Đurđevdan Festival of Children’s Song in Banja Luka, one of the most significant children’s music festivals in the region.
The song “Tamo gdje se nebo s vodom spaja”, performed by Esma Gušić, won the First Prize for Composition — Grand Prix “Jadranka Stojaković”. The music, lyrics, and arrangement were written by Đorđe Jovančić, founder and director of BASICSchool, giving this achievement a special emotional and artistic value for our school.
On the grand festival stage, Esma performed a song about courage, dreams, the inner strength of a child, and faith in one’s own path. Her performance combined sincere childhood emotion, stage naturalness, and musicality, while the song’s powerful message reminded the audience that children’s dreams know no boundaries.
Esma Gušić was born in Sarajevo, and she took her first musical steps at BASICSchool, where she enrolled in the Music Workshop program at the age of four and a half. From an early age, she showed a strong talent for music and stage performance, and today she is a student of the Solo Singing Department, in the class of teacher Marina Milošev.
Throughout her musical development so far, Esma has had several successful solo performances as part of the children’s TV show Novogodišnji Basics Show, and she is also an active member of the BASICS Choir, where she continues to develop her vocal skills, stage experience, and love for ensemble music-making.
This result represents one of the most important achievements for BASICSchool, as it brings together everything we have believed in from the very beginning: working with children, creating original music, nurturing stage expression, and supporting young talents who show through their performances how far they can go when they are given the space to grow.
We congratulate our Esma Gušić on her wonderful performance, teacher Marina Milošev on her pedagogical support, and the author of the song, Đorđe Jovančić, on the awarded composition.
We are proud that a song created within our artistic and educational work has been recognized on such an important festival stage. “Tamo gdje se nebo s vodom spaja” is not only the title of a song for us, but a symbol of the path on which we guide our children — toward knowledge, art, courage, and the infinity of their possibilities.
